The unpredictable weather ran all the way up the eastern flank of the mountains. Just south of Reno, transport trucks were banned for a time due to high crosswinds bothering Hwy 395. We went from heavy brooding cloud in 20 minutes to sun bursting through the clouds and reflecting off the wet tarmac, like a mirror.
Emerald Bay and Bliss State Parks enjoy shoreline amidst the trees and sky. Emerald Bay has the only island in Lake Tahoe.
A nice run of beach and just in under the trees is this fungi- it has no green in it at all. It's about ten inches tall.
We got a nice big site in Bliss State Park and it came with a great fireplace. Just across the road was the water tank, and over the ridge behind our tents was the way to the beach.
Just behind the camera there's a little fenced area on the beach. Not much to look at, but it cordons off a bit of very important rare mustard...
